According to the BBC £75 per hour is the average charge. Dealers are more, and round here are about £100 per hour.

Being completely new to Mercedes Benz ownership can someone give me some idea of prices for servicing etc. I have got myself a 03 plate c 270cdi with 96k on the clock. It has been fully serviced at a John Weir dealership in Scotland and is going very well. Fuel economy is superb for my type of driving - often 48mpg +

Also, what are the benefits of staying with an MB dealership (apart of course from the stamp in the book, genuine parts etc.) I live on an island and to go to a dealership for service costs in the region of £200 before I even get to the garage.

Lastly, I would be obliged if anyone can give me advice on what I should be looking out for in this particular model of car.

Many thanks in advance,
George

Hello george, to be truth full its hardly worth the expense of the MB dealer with the age of your car, for what it is worth you will never re coupe the cost, as long as the service is done using the correct oils then the service book will still get stamped. My car is 1 year older than yours and I have saved some £300 just on the last service. it makes no difference to the selling on price as the car will sell on its condition.

I,ve got the same car, all be it with less mileage, and i've just had a 'B' service done at an indie for £196. Thats with me supplying my own oil (mobil 1, £46 for 8 litres at costco) and with a brake fluid change. MB wanted £200 for an 'A' service.

That will seem like a drop in the ocean after you have been presented with a servicing bill from Mercedes. You could always ask if they give a discount for 6 year old cars, some dealers will, but it would have to be at least 40% or 50% before I would even think about it.

My local dealer in Norwich has informed me that there are no discounts available, not even for club members, not even for me and I've always got a discount there.. Do they honestly think that's the way to attract more customers

I get 33% off labour (normally £66.50 per hour) and 20% off parts at MB Manchester. But my cars are pretty geriatric. I also use an Indie for servicing as MB use a fix price menu, which is quite expensive.
