Lack of Engine Management Light?????

Does anyone know if I should have one :Oops:

My 1998 SLK 230 does not appear to.......when I switch on the ignition all other lights come on for check, but no engine light, also no mention of one in my manual

Just curious

I don,t have one in my C230K 1997 either, and to be honest i dont think my 1999 C43 has one either, so your not the only one feeling left out.

for me it meant PANIC!!! but mine was easily fixed phew! (am sure malcom put me right there as well as other occasions )

You can always change the diagrams even if they do nothing

i have a better idea, change the overlays so you have the seat belt warnings and fit a flashing LED behind it

On my A-class the engine management light doesn't come on at ignition, like all the other warning lights do.
However, mine didn't hesitate to come on when I upset it the other day!

SLK 230 check engine light

It is on the bottom left of the display panel. You should have a telescoping steering column. When the engine is running and you pull the release under the column a warning light comes on. The check engine light for a US spec SLK 230 is the next light to the left.

I would have to agree with silversurfer im sure it does have one as how would you know if there is any problems with your engine etc.

I have seen this before with either the bulb taken out or it has been coded out

I'm pretty certain you do not have one. Neither of the W202 C280 V6's I've owned nor my W202 C200 have one. I think only the diesel W202's have this.
