My ML 270CDI has developed a leak from a small 'valve' type of looking component, it is situated alongside the injection 'rail' and near to number 1 injector, it is about 2 inches long, made of plastic.Half is coloured black and the front of it (which is in the shape of a plunger) is white, the white bit is where the fuel is dripping from. There is a fuel supply to it but no outlet..(only one fuel connection)
I have tried uploading a pic of the 'valve' in question but the system won't accept it for some reason, so if anyone can help i can email a picture of it to you in the hope that it can be identified.
Thanks

fuel leak

Hi

It's a common fault, this valve is there to connect a pump to bleed the fuel system although I have never seen it used,

There is a part avialable, just the plunger from MB the new one is now black cost about 30p

Does anyone else out there know anything about this plunger....does it just pull out?...i've tried a bit of 'pulling' but it won't budge and i dont want to put the car off the road by breaking it completely.

plunger

Hi

No it doesn't just pull out. I think there is a light grey collar which you have to push evenly towards the back of the car, this releases the plunger which then just pulls out, to fit new one, or old one back just push in. In emergency as temp repair clean the hole in the middle of the old plunger and fill with two part epoxy resin (arildite or similar) works fine for a while

good luck

Hi Piestore,
The grey collar is there....i did try pushing it in before i posted, but will now try again with a bit more conviction!, glad you mentioned 'filling' the hole as i also considered doing just that as a temporary fix.
Thanks again
