left my oil filler cap OFF!!

Hi, cant quite belive i did this! i left my oil filler cap off after filling oil!

went on the trip to work and then thought i cant remember doing that!! so, there is a bit of oil on top of engine, not much, and the car reads that oil level is OK, and works ok, so have i done any long term damage?

No damage unless it ran out of oil.

Easy mistake to make and i went one better.

during an oil change i forgot to replace the sump plug after draining and realised my error when filling it up again and was standing in a puddle of oil. DOH!

no damage done as it was only a Citroen Xantia.

no it says oil level ok, and amazingly the oil filler cap was just sitting around waiting to be put back on! Perhaps i am a little bit lucky..
