Come on here, what's going on?That was a legitimate off-roader by Lewis, and he conceded the gain immediately.I don't get fired up about much of anything really, but this is really the pits(sorry!) F1 for me is now off the calendar.Sorry,Bernie, but you are the architect of your coming misfortune.

Totally agree, best bit of racing I've seen for some time.

Being cynical I suppose they'll be banning overtaking next. Just goes to show that lawyers are running the sporty nowadays.

Surely Bernie isn't still punishing McClaren for last years supposed indiscretion.

Good job it wasn't a McClaren that caused that pit lane incident in the last race or they might have banned them for the rest of the season.

The more I see of formula 1 the more I see the point of Indy racing, fastest car and driver wins.

Anyway, they can play around with the rules as much as they want, we all know what we saw and it was truly memorable and mansellesque.

Well done HAMILTON!

This is Michael in hungary. LISTEN TO THE ANNOUNCERS. They're all BAFFLED as to why Michael did not let PDLR through.

This is Lewis at Spa. He Let Kimi through. And to the people saying Lewis gained an advantage. LOOK HOW CLOSE HE WAS TO KIMI BEFORE THEY BEGAN TO BRAKE FOR BUS STOP.

Michael went to the left for the EXACT same reason as Lewis did, to avoid a collision with the other car. The difference? LEWIS LET KIMI PAST.

Clearly, once again we see Max Mosely in the pocket of Ferrari doing everything in his power to ensure no one is allowed to overtake a Ferrari.

I refer you all back to last season when McLaren Mercedes were penalised endlessly for a Ferrari employee giving Ferrari information to a McLaren employee. I'm sorry, but if I gave my companies secrets to a competitor, it would be me penalised for giving them away, not the competitor for accepting them - get some reality here please.

Max [Ferrari] Mosely son of a Nazi and bondage enthusiast should not be a part of F1 any more.

The sport is in enough disrepute as it is with Mosley still at the helm. This is the last straw for me.

Cynically speaking

I totally agree, it ain't fair what happened!
But the process has been applied to the letter - if you shortcut a chicane you get a drive-thru penalty ( or 25 seconds since it was so close to the end of the race) This tecnicality of a time penalty instead of a drive-thru, McClaren-Merc are appealing.
However all of this has the effect of closing the gap between Massa and Hamilton. The loss of 6 points is the equivalent of 3 races following Massa to the finish line!
This excitement and broo-haa of course brings more spectators to the sport for the last 5 or 6 races - which is exactly what Bernie wants! Next year's prices to host a race has probably already gone up - if this is the kind of racing we can expect.
The reality though is that if you stay safe and consistent, finish 2nd every race, you might still win.

lewis proved in final laps that he was the better driver and had the better car. Kimi forced lewis off the track he had no option but to take the direct route, so I assume kimi get away with his move also. And what about kimi crashing he wouldnt have won anyway.

Gladholm - thanks for your insight. I agree that according to the rules if you shortcut a chicane you get a 25 sec penalty or a drive through depending on the race time elapsed but if you immediately give that place back you are exempt from the penalty. i.e if you gain an advantage you get the penalty. Where did Lewis gain an advantage in that menoeuver?

Anyway, the race stewards complaint was that Lewis gained an advantage when he let Kimi pass him - hello - he gained an advantage by letting Kimi pass him....how is that..?

As for bringing fans in, I think you are so wrong. Once again the race steward supporting a Ferrari against a McLaren in unjust circumstances will drive fans away. I heard Nikki Lauda today on the radio questioning the stewards and their negative impact on F1. Nikki Lauda of all people understands F1.

Stewards - wrong - Lewis right. Charlie Whiting said so - he is race director.
