I heard today the the new Lexus has its own version of Distronic with this system not only can you take your feet off the pedals, you can take your hands off the steering wheel and the car just sits between the white lines.

I wonder what would happen if your car stopped itself while in distronic + and you got out to see what the hold up was, would your car take off again without you if the traffic started moving again

It would struggle on contraflows a bit...

Nice one Parrot,:-D :-D :-D my friend did say that tough he loves the distronic as I do, taking you hands off the wheel was unnerving.

It will be interesting to see if Blobcat has got all this on his new car

I've experienced a variation on this.

After a night-out in London I jumped into the back of an old Nissan. I gave the car a verbal instruction to where I wanted to go. After I closed the rear door the journey was quite violent in places, a bit jerky here and there, and the control unit had a strange language. Could have been poorly set-up from the factory.

It nearly delivered me at the correct location too, and with virtually no input from me at all.

I believe this system is called "driver".

But that was a few years ago, and I'm sure these systems have improved by now.

Before Distronic , I heard a story about some guy who had a camper-van with cruise control. This happened in USA , and apparently he selected cruise control and
went in to the back of the camper van to make breakfast !
You can probably see where this is going  .
Any way after the accident, he sued the camper van makers for not giving exact instructions on what cruise control actually did!
It could only happen the America
