Licence plate bulb issue, help required please.

Hi All

First time user, and I need some advice please. Both number plate bulbs work when I open car and start it up, when I open the boot, the left one goes out, but comes back up when closed and error message is displayed on the binnacle. This has only just happened recently and was wondering if anyone had had this fault and/or knows how to fix please? TIA

sounds to me like a partial break in the loom .... presumably where it attaches to the hinge

Cheers for the starting point to investigate EmilysDad, was wondering if this may have been a cause.

Or a bad connection on the bulb which means it disconnects when the boot is at a different angle?
