Hi..
I have finally found that the leak I have in my boot is coming from the rear passenger side light unit..
It goes as follows:
If you open the boot (W203 saloon) you will see a channel for the rain just below the rear screen.. The water runs into the channel and proceeds left and right along the channel.. The water then meets a plastic trim which is about 2 feet long .. The water goes behing this trim as its supposed to do but for some reason as its behind it, it detours behind the rear light cluster and dribbles into the boot on the left hand side..
My thoughts are as follows.. Am I OK the remove the rear light unit and "Wodge" (MB technical term) a load of silicon sealer around where the light unit meets the body of the car.. This would in effect seal the light unit against outside water..
I see no reason I shouldn't do this but what are your thoughts..
Thank you

i see no problem with that. i used bathroom silicone sealer around lights on my fords for many years! never had another 1 leak after sealing them. and id do the same with the 210 if the lights started to leak water in too!

MB have on many car had leaks around the rear lights, so why not unbolt the lamp unit and put a bead of Loctite superflex around the flange that the lamp bolts to, then do up the lamp again

Update !!

Thank you for the advice Malcom..
However...
I could not believe that Mercedes would have done such a crappy design with sealing the rear light units, so just for devilment I removed the right hand unit just to look at the difference. After all the right hand side was bone dry ! Lo and behold the right hand side has a thick neoprene type gasket about 6mm thick around the plastic of the light lens unit..
The leaking side does not!
That means that at some time in the past some Puttz has failed to put it back on for some reason..
So tomorrow I feel inclined to order the MB part (after all I doubt even MB can charge a silly price for that!).
Now if I could buy a sheet of the neoprene gasket from somewhere . . . .???
