lights not working properly

can someone pliz help. I have a Merc sprinter 208 1997. park lights do not come on when i switch them full on the headlights come on but not the rear lights. they only come on when i switch fog lights on. Wierd!!! when I brake the fog lights come on as well. Im

Sound like someone has fiddled with your wiring. Suggest you see an Autoelec straight away as the car would not be roadworthy.

everything was working fine until 2 days ago when the battery was flat and it wouldnt start

Ok It is that time of the year where you are where vulnerable batteries on their last legs will fail. Maybe the Cpu has been affected. Suggest you replace existing battery with new one and see if the problem disappears.

I had a weird lighting problem not dissimilar to yours on a Gelandewagen. Checked all earth points, etc, etc. It turned out that a double filament globe in the taillight was shorting, inside the globe.

When I pressed the brakes, the park lights came on. When I switched the parklights on and braked, the rev counter went mad, etc. Afterwards made some sense. When I braked, power went back into the other circuits via the park light/lights circuits, causing very strange behaviours in the electrics.

Hi mate I had the same prob on my 208D 1999 Turned out to be a bad earth on one of the wires Try taking some of the earth wires of and clean the wire and body bolt back on. It solved mine

Also try cleaning the contacts on the passenger side back door it disconects the number plate lights when the door is open, if the circuit is not making contact properly it effects your headlights as well ,Switch your lights on and check the number plate lamps are lit if not clean the copper contacts on the door and side piller.
