Hi all this is what happened on the ML a week ago,
On my 2003 ML the following lights have illuminated on the dash. They are as follows:
BAS/ ESP
ETS
ABS
EPC
I have read the manual and it says for the BAS/ ESP the on board voltage is less than 10 volts.
ETS to prevent the brakes overheating.
ABS due to a voltage below 10 volts.
EPC due to a malfunction in the diesel-engine electronics.
Or they could have all failed.
I did travel 200 miles north yesterday and back, however no lights were on the dash.
I am wondering if water has frozen on some of the electronics or could the battery have nearly had it?
Also I am thinking of waiting for the temperature to rise in case it could be the frozen water.
Will the faults have to be corrected via star diagnostics or will they sort themselves out if it is frozen water?
The lights disappeared...
Yesterday the following happened:
The lights are back!!!
I have also noticed the wing mirrors no longer fold.
Got back in the car the other lights were on except the EPC. Then the wing mirrors closed and opened. Started 2 drive, I heard a shredding noise and the wheels felt odd; it felt like a power failure was going to happen.
I stopped and then started again, after turning onto the next road the noise and feeling came again. Although this time the Yellow Warning Triangle illuminated in the dash.
Also the EPC light is back on.
I have read my manual and it says with regards to the Yellow Warning Triangle:
4-ETS/ ESP is activated becuase one of the drive wheels has reached its tyre grip limit.
ESP is deactivated. There is an increased risk of accident.
Any ideas what is wrong with the car? Could it be the alternator/ belt? Where is this located on the ML?
Is the car safe?
