A few years ago there was a limited edition mercedes sportscar which cost somewhere in the region of £650,000 with only about 200 made. What was the name of the car and where can I get some information on it??

Thats not it. All I know is that it was on top gear a few years ago.

That might have been either the C-111 or C-112 concepts...I think they sold a very limited number.
