Hi, I’m relatively new to the forum, I’ve had a few Mercedes vehicles over the years, mainly vans.

I’ve recently purchased a 2017 GLC 250d which had 22k miles on. Really nice car but unfortunately I’m having a problem with it.

The amber engine warning light came on a couple of weeks ago so I plugged a OBD in and P2463 code popped up, I cleared it but within a few days it came on again. I was busy with work so kept driving it with the intention of getting it plugged in, before this the car went into limp mode.

I called into my local garage, not mb, the lad plugged it in and said it looked like the dpf was full and needed to be cleaned/ re-generated. He was unable to perform a re-gen as he was unable to clear the fault code.

I looked into have it cleaned via various companies but they would not guarantee this would cure the problem.
I decided to take them off myself which I have done, yes they were dirty but not to the degree which I thought would cause a problem.
It’s all back together, and yes, it has made no difference, still in limp mode and P2463 code pending.

I’m going to get in plugged in at a specialist as I’m thinking it could be a sensor kicking up the code?

Any advice would be appreciated

Unsure, when it was plugged in at local garage the lad said it had done approximately 1000 miles since last regen, I’d probably covered that amount of miles since purchasing vehicle

If the code is pending it wont be a blocked dpf. Pending codes are noted and the car waits for it to be triggered again in the next driving cycle.
Get your car seen to my a proper merc specialist with correct code reader.

Change the dpf pressure sensor . Live data content for it should be around - 0.01 to + 0.01

We need to trick the car to do an automatic re-gen so that the counter inside the ECU is satisfied

Hi have you tried clearing the code, make sure you have at least 1/4 tank fuel and going for a 30 min run up the motorway? When on the motoway stay at around 60mph and keep cruise control on.?
Iv had this issue before this worked for me and hasn't come back on in 2 years.
The big question is tho why hasn't the car regened itself? Mine was due to a dodgy pressure sensor.

Initially I was able to clear the code when the amber engine warning light popped up but now I have no lights on dash and code is pending. I clear it but when I refresh codes it comes straight back
Will it attempt a regen if I take it for a 30 min drive even with car being in limp mode?

No it will need to be out of limp mode. If you clear the codes it when the engine has been on for 5 minutes the code should stay off? Try that see if it helps.

Yes, that would be great if you don’t mind, if you pm your area or postcode I’ll see how far away I am

Update on this....... good news!

Car is out of limp mode and back to normal!

After manually cleaning the dpf’s the car was taking back to the garage that initially diagnosed the fault, they plugged it back in and was able to clear codes and reset dpf

Advised to take it for run down the motorway every couple of weeks or I can look forward to manually cleaning them out again!
