After buying my first Merc. I cant wait to get rid. I bought this C230K Coupe on a 02 plate just over 12 Months ago. Recently now the warranty has just ran out I have had one after the other Warning messages come up. So many I am desensitised to warnings.

I took the car for a A service to an indy dealer. He called me to say the engine management light was on and Cyl 2 keeps shutting down.
See other post!!!

Warnings and lights recieved so far:-

ESP/Visit workshop
BAS/Visit workshop
Reduce oil level Oil level too high (checked oil when standing, OK)
Battery Low turn of consumers
Battery fault Visit workshop
Engine managment light

All these messages come and go. The engine intermittently runs bad as if on 3 Cylinders. All seems well on long runs.

I wonder if a electrical fault could be causing all these simulated faults. I know merc is very Reliant on Electronics. The engine managment light and rough running has only been happening since after the A service.

I have checked all the fuses for obvious bad connections. Any more ideas?

Thanks

Basic items to check, assuming the car drives OK, and is safe, are:

Items 1 & 2 on your list - The ESP/BAS warning may be as a result of a faulty brake light switch (do a search on the forum about this)

Item 3 - If the engine has even the slightest amount of oil above the max mark on the dipstick this may trigger the level sensor (I know because this happened to me)

Items 4,5 and 6 - An undercurrent battery can cause all sorts of problems to the electrical system on the car (I replaced a faulty battery and cured a fault with the CC). Have the battery and charging system checked.

Hope this helps!

Always go back to basics. to throw up all of those faults I think the garage has disconnect or jumped battery. This can be checked by making sure that you have 12 volt going in and 12 volts out of the over voltage relay, used to be pin 87 if more than one 87 it needs to be on both. these units are there to protect all of the things that have lit up, the codes should be removed.

MB's are very easy to upset with the battery.

Malcolm.
the car was OK when it went in for service ?
