hi everyone
mercedes 300d 1992 saloon automatic(124 model)

i had the bonnet up working on car with battery disconnected -all doors and windows closed -one and only key on console-finished working on car and forgot and connected battery up and now car is locked with the only key i have inside. Car in garage with bonnet up ,other than get another key from mercedes -any ideas how i can get the locks to open or perhaps short a window out so i can get a window down. Would appreciate any suggestions as i cannot move the car. There is no alarm fitted.

cheers brian:shock:

You could try to gently pry the top corner of the door open slightly with a cloth covered screwdriver and slip in an opened coat hanger to try to hook the inner handle. Patience required.

Alternatively, wait till late evening and get a 14 year old off the street. He will have it open in seconds!!!

I don't think that would work-not enough room to get coat hanger in there

good idea about the 14 year old boy though-unfortunately there are not many hoodies where i live-apart from the wife

You might be able to do from the engine compartment with a vacuum pump. You'd have to check the vacuum diagram to see if the locking system goes through the bulkhead

I know it's a little late now but when I'm working on cars I always leave a window open for this exact reason

The hand held spray bottles like kitchen cleaner etc have a wealth of tubing inside that can be used for sliding over the pipes, different makes use different tubing and very useful.
