I could do with some advice please????
My Dad has a merc. (w reg) automatic c class elegance, it has been into the dealers 8 times now with the same problem? the engine management light keeps coming on, it goes in they say they have fixed it and within 2 weeks its back on.
Bare in mind he does less then 50 miles per week in it!! at 70yrs plus he does not need the grief. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and can it be fixed? many thanks

We need to know some more info.

What engine is it?

What are the symtoms?

Do you have any fault codes?

The engine is a 1988cc, it has no symptoms apart from the light coming on and it has never shown any code although the dealer said it should.
many thanks for your help

light dont come on for any reason, could be a number of things, you need a fault code for anybody to have half a chance of giving you advise!!!

If the lamp comes on and the car behaves pefectly you may just have an errant sensor somewhere, possibly due to the fact the car is used so little, see if you can get dad to ignore the light and enjoy driving..it used to be a big problem on vauxhalls..light on for no reason..although using a top quality oil did help..

If you and the garage are happy that there is no physical fault (no symptoms) then to be honest, I'd take the bulb out. It's pretty useless anyway. If there is a problem you'll get safe mode or some other indication so the warning light is irrelevant.
