Hi I drive to the center of London next week there are some picks below
Maybe from M40 our M1
This might sound a bit thick but do I pay to enter the center of London
is there a congestion charge
Where would I park for the destination I have see Temple Bar
Thanks in advance
kevin

Viamichelin used to have a decent journey planning website and you could setup the options to avoid tolls. I haven't tried it recently but maybe worth a look.

M6 then M40 straight over the M25 drive as far as you can, find a tube station near ealing broadway, you will always find a parking place with no meters.

Take the tube Central or District lines southbound to Temple

Anything for you is a pleasure Kebo, it is so easy not having to worry about the car and parking. I said Ealing as there is plenty of parking with no meters, there will be a lot of time saved by using the tube.

When I was looking at an SL in Croydon I thought that I would use the route that I used in the 60's to get to Watford, I could do it in 1½ hours back then, after 6 hours and only got half way, I chose the motorways

If I go to London I always go M40 down to M25, park on outskirts on local carpark and tube in, easier still if you dont need your car is catch the train down to Euston station, depart the station, walk down stairs and you are in the tube, easier, I did that every day for 5 weeks when I was working in Regent St, hated every minute of it.

If it were me I think I'd drive to somewhere like Edgware tube station, although it obviously depends on what road you are coming down from, but it's right near the M1. You can then pop onto the Northern Line and get right down to Embankment station. I think driving into London in a car is pretty daunting unless you are used to it.

Hey up I'm back

Did the London thing to temple like malc said
I stooped for direction a bloke said i could park round the back of the Foresters pub for free and Ealing station was across the road
I clocked a few miles in two days, I did Stoke, to home, down to Sittingbourne Kent, back home, down to Ealing, back home, and back to stoke
ML made it an easy job
Thanks for the replies everyone
Sorry for the delay I been helping run the ALRC National 2007
