I just went outside to take the recycling bins out and as I bent down to pull them by the side of the car I noticed this mess  I have no idea when it happened but I'm really cross that someone did this and must have known, but just drove away

Ouch! There's nothing worse. While parked outside a hotel a few weeks ago, someone put a lovely dent in the rear quarter of my E240, obviously with a light truck, knocked £200 off the trade in price subsequently, I couldn't argue as it was a nasty one. Similarly some idiot in a 4x4 with a towbar reversed into the front of my son's Supra in a car park one evening and just drove off. That cost him a new front valance, bonnet and so on. What made it worse was there were CCTV's around, but the council weren't interested. Sadly people don't seem to give a damn nowadays.

Sickening, that would take a good few days for me come to terms with that one.
I still get wound up thinking about a piece of wood which had a nail in it that flew up whilst I was driving down the A2 that damaged the paint work, its the time effort and cost to get it back to the way it should be that gets me down.

So sad little lady to see the damage, as the others say it is sickening but happens all of the time. when I use the SL,its fine as long as you keep driving, but when you park up the problems start.

I did notice that

I refuse to wash a car Malcolm. It's hard work and I have enough to do inside the house without going out in the cold with a bucket and sponge  Also I can't reach the top of the roof

I agree with that looks to be a very straight vertical line almost like a post.

gate post means you did it yourself!

Very rare those moving gate posts.

Hard question that, trolley bus standard number 69 on the Edgware Rd back in the 50s jumped out and hit me

Gate post or rear of a trailer

Funnily enough my partner did say he was parked next to a van with a trailer last week.

It certainly wasn't done by me, I'm no good at parking so I don't reverse into the drive ;)

The reason that I say trailer is that they usually have an angle iron down the back corners. The damage is far too much for a wooden fence post

Yep that's what Keith said too :?

I don't know when we will get it fixed. I think we might try Chips Away and see what they charge. Our next door neighbour runs his own body shop locally but other half and the husband had a run in over a tree house last Summer and have never got back on good terms :? Neighours pfft!
