looking at this W203 tomorrow

hi guys, I'm going to look at this car tomorrow (2001 W203, 23000 km on the clock) with the view to buying it (not tomorrow but soon)

what should I be looking out for exactly ? and yes i hate the wheels, if i do buy it it'll be the first thing i'll change (back to mercedes originals)

well no one bothered to reply and i saw the car and it had loads of issues,

so......... here are my next two considerations

one is diesel and a kombi (i prefer saloon)
and the other is ....... petrol

the ad's are in swedish but you get the idea, it's a car and all that.

so... which is better, diesel or petrol, and why, and which is better, kombi or sedan (saloon) ?

I've been driving a W203 56 plate 220CDI for the last couple of days and ~400 miles. Whilst the economy was okI really am spoilt rotten in the W211. I couldn't believe how noisy it was and how much I disliked the interior, very sad really as we thought about one for my wife awhile ago. I think I prefer the W202.

The silver one diesel is a 2002 with a fairly good spec, no leather but has the service history, price reduced by 20,000kr, it is also Swedish sold. been 184.000 english miles

The C200 has been 116.000 english miles, no leather, its an import and is sold as seen, no guarantee, very low spec

Is there any that you want to know more about them

Of course I'm slightly biased but I think the diesel over the petrol. Better economy and more torque. The estate (kombi) is far more versatile and IMHO a more pleasing shape, streamlined and sporty (yes, sporty!)
The lack of leather is a minus though.

The leather is not a big issue in Sweden as when its -25c thats b cold to sit on

Heated seats are standard in Sweden, even the cheapest car from 1994 has a heated drivers seat

Unless I am miss something the combi has got many extras.

You do need the VIN off the 202 to see how old it is

You can ask the seller for them, you can say that you are checking to see if they are stolen, ring them and ask, everyone in the UK gave me the number

you can say that your Försäkring (insurance) wants to know

Tiptronic---electric windows back-front----Electric mirrors---Radio/CD----Cruise control----Rain Sensor-----Multi function steering wheel-----Roof Rails ---Service history and stamped book---New MOT----Alloys.

No PX but is a 2002 car, should be better in terms of rust


What worries me is on the other one, we do not know the year, as it was it was imported in 2000
and there is no warranty or guarantee

Where you you are only 100 yds from the German border, why not pick up the German car mags the saving is one hell of lot if you inport your self.

Sorry for keeping on, but I worry about you as you are embarking on the third most expensive thing in your life.

In the advert it says that at that price, no PX possible.

Re Sweden My ex rang me tonight so things are looking up, if I come over I shall drive up from Germany and call in and say hello.
