Am looking for a newish 2016 onwards V Class to use as an everyday car and travelling around the uk.

Am just wondering if anyone has any good or bad tips regarding them.
Obviously service history and general appearance but anything else ?.

My thoughts are to look for the 250 though guess that a 220 can be tuned by companies on here as is the same engine I believe.
To get as many extras, memory seats, cameras, parking aids as possible. I intend to keep the car long term so would like to get a good one.

Thank you all in advance.

My advice... buy a VW Caravelle Executive...

Grey drive, very comfortable, no rust, great resale

Others may coorect my understanding but I think the 220 will be single turbo and the 250 a twin turbo.
If so a remap would improve a 220 but it wouldn't be as smooth as a twin turbo.

It'll be the 251 engine,
I view those as chocolate engines and feel beyond 60k miles they aren't as reliable as earlier MB engines. But again I'm sure many will have stella miles on those engines with no issues, and probably be insulted by my comments.

Diesels have become far too complicated nowadays anyway.
Good luck.

I had a Caravelle for 9 years and over 100k Miles, best passenger vehicle on the road for 7 and comfortable for all day driving. Depreciation was less than £1k for every year I had it

Thank you both for your comments.

I hadn’t given VW much of a thought as presumed that they are mostly work or camper vans. We did have a Bora Sport years ago, very nice.
I shall “away with me” to VW for a recce.

The depreciation on yours, wow.

I had a V from MB as a 2 day demo, opted for the XC90 which an infinitely better all round car, albeit not quite so big
