Well, after almost 12 years, it seems that the navigation disc reader has reached EOL. Now, replacing it is a rather costly affair, it seems, unless I use one from the scrap-yard. Besides, the maps and the UI are rather dated now.

So I'm thinking of what, or if, to replace it with. Now, most of the things I've seen online seem to be able to handle the MOST, Harman-Kardon, amplifiers etc. but they seem to have in common the draw-back that I won't be able to see the arrows displaying in the central instrument (in the speedo...).

Does anyone know of any nice device one could look at to replace the current COMAND system with? That will actually do "everything" the NGT1 does?

Cheers

Those posted above must be better than whats in the car, I know that some frown on them, many are happy with them, just the cost of 2 comand maps upgrades.

Thanks guys, they seem to have a lot of features, which I do like... but none of them mention the actually crucial thing... to get that "arrow" in the central instrument... :/ I also do like the prices.

And... since I do have the HK, that "bypassing" stuff isn't really up my alley. It seems to be a pain in the aft to have to do that, and I bet the sound will be less than desirable too... :/ Maybe I'm being way too particular?

Hm.

Yes with HK sound stick with what you have otherwise a real pain to change and you lose the very nice sound.

Yes, the Comand NTG 2.5 will work in the car, do everything NTG1 does (including full cluster support) and more (such as full seven digit postcode). It will require professional installation and if you replace the HK amp you will get far better sound too. Wont be cheap but will be the best sound whilst retaining the OEM feel.
