My local garage has ruled out the cylinder head gasket as the cause, but they have replaced the filler cap the thermostat, and this week the water pump, and still we have the problem of the engine pumping out the coolant after about a ten mile run, Help?

The model is a C220 CDI on an 03 plate.

When you say pumping out coolant, do you mean that the system is being over pressurised and pushed out from the overflow tank?

Also what car are you referring to? Model, year, engine size and type etc.
Please pop up those magical 6 numbers from the VIN, e.g. W210123

This does not make sense, take the cap off and leave it running if it blows the water out it is the head gasket

I would say that you have a head gasket failure. Try another garage for a second opinion.

Thanks Guys,

More information, first, the model is a C220 CDI year 2003. This all started with a small hose leak just under the expansion tank the hose was replaced, the system still over pressurises and pushes the coolant from the overflow tank. Coolant checked for carbons to rule out head gasket. Cap. thermostat, water pump all replaced. Engine has been run with cap off, does not overflow. Still have problem, any advice.

Many thanks

Possibly an air lock introduced in the cooling system when the hose was replaced....has the system been bled correctly?
