Hello all. I have seen this problem listed in forums before but Im hoping for some advice please.

I have a 2002 van with 50,000 miles. Im losing huge amounts of water/anti freeze every journey.

No smoke from exhaust, no milky residue in oil. Its been pressure and sniff tested - all ok.

The water header tank remains pressurised over night :(

Its had a new water pump (better after initially being fitted) and happily sits on the M5 and 69 mph.

Im hoping its not the head gasket but Im starting to fear the worst! Any ideas or help please.

have you checked for a split pipe somewhere. Awfully low mileage for a HG.

Coolant should only be lost though the cooling system or engine. Did it have coolant loss issues prior to the water pump replacement?

Have the garages had a really good look for signs of coolant residue (usually white, when it dries)? (e.g. pin hole in radiator etc)
Have all the hoses been properly inspects for leaks and residue?
Bad tank cap seal?
Heater matrix?

Yes the water pump change was first route. Coolant is escaping from overflow pipe, should have mentioned that!!

Have you checked your stat. If stuck closed too much pressure - exiting from weakest point.

Common leaks are egr cooler, water pump, water connection at fuel filter and thermostat. Less common is the header tank and heater matrix.
