Here's a new problem that's been bugging me, I'll try to explain.

This has happened twice in the last 2 months. When I am cruising along and then suddenly I need to put some power down to say overtake the car has very little power. I have noticed it when I was driving at about 65 on the motorway and then I put my foot down a little on the accelerator to overtake and there was hardly anything there it didn't kick down and the speedometer was just creeping up. So I get off the motorway and turn everything off and on again and its fine. As I said this has happened twice.

Any idea what this can be?

First get your codes read on Star to reduce the guesswork. I had something similar a while back and it was the Throttle Position Sensor. Bought the part, 10mins to swap over, job done

.

I see, so who on here has one that I can use, or is it a case of going to a dealer and paying them half hours labour?

My local indie said he was to busy to do my door yesterday, don't know if that just meant that he wasn't interested in getting involved, so not sure if he will be bothered for me to use his Star.

Also if I get someone to do a diagnostics using the star machine might that tell me what is wrong with my drivers door electrical problem as well?

It should assuming the operator knows what he is doing

It could be the MAF as it clears on a restart, often one can unplug it to see

..

Ok so managed to get down to AJ Robertson in Hove earlier and he plugged his star into it. Showed that there was a fault with the door. But was not the door control unit, there is a dodgy wire somewhere maybe broken. He spent about an hour stripping out the door and tracing the wire back to the fuse box, and the wire is faulty somewhere as his voltage screwdriver flash a few times but not enough to trace the exact wire and where is was broken or if it was broken. One thing we did notice is that the huge clump of wires that hang out of the door just before they go through to the main body all the insulation had been ripped off and was exposing all the coloured wires! He reinsulated them. It's actually working now so maybe he has inadvertently fixed it.

The star system showed there was a problem with the EGR Valve which would be causing the power problem that has happened now and again. He suggested that I give it a clean.

SO there you go lets see what happens next!
