Loss of radio reception - ? arial disconnected

I've recently acquired an 03 SLK in which the radio was recoded (presumably following battery disconnection).

It looks like it is working fine i.e frequency of radio station on display but there is no reception which leads me to suspect that the arial has been somehow disconnected - it might be because the folding roof mechanism was attended to at the same time (it's now working normally).

Where should I start looking? Thanks for any info.

The antenna wires are very thin and break easily often just by the lead that plug into the set
