Hello there,

I own a C220 CDI on an 03 plate, which is very lumpy at idle, with an idle speed of 750 rpm, I think this should be more like 1000 rpm, the car is sometimes slow to pull away, but once running there seems no loss of power or speed. the garage I use cannot find the fault, can anyone help me with this issue.

Kind regards

Frank Tinsley

This symptom can be a number of things--it needs a diagnostic plug in to identify the cause ?

the idle speed is correct.

the most likely cause of the symptoms you describe is a faulty injector.

an experienced mercedes specialist with the correct computer (star machine or das - same thing) will easily identify the problem.

Sounds like a bag of Bolts

Hello everyone,

I have just read the thread by Delboy777, and that is just what my C220 sounds like. My garage do not suspect the injectors, as it sounds like all four are missing a beat. Could it be the lift pump in fuel tank not working, has anyone come accross this.

Regards

all we can really do is recommend you try a mercedes specialist. if you give us your location we may be able to suggest someone local.

if it were missing on all four injectors it would not run! if the lift pump was not working it would not run!

does it really sound more awful than a smooth cdi? (they never sound great with the bonnet up) or is it really as you first said and just lumpy, and slow to pull away? are there any warning lights or messages related to it? does it start ok?

if the answers are no, yes, no and yes - it's still an injector :D ;)

There is nothing on that link .. ??

I have a lumpy idling petrol - think it just needs a service and set of plugs though (wen I say lumpy its not awful, just not dead smooth and pulling away seems a little jerky sometimes - the throttle is a bit on or off!!)

I wasnt willing to flood the formu with the same topics, so I thought Iąll post here.:)
My 300D (engine OM603.912) starts quite good, but after the start it idles lower than the 500rpm mark when the engine is cold:shock: If I slightly apply the throttle it goes up a bit. This problem occurs during hot days (outside temp. higher than 15 degrees Celsius). If the day is colder it will idle at about 750rpm, but not after the start. I have to start the cold engine then apply the throttle a bit and suddenly the revs jump up to the 750rpm limit. What is wrong with my engine:confused: I`m totally lost, my mechanic just shook his head and said ithat there might be something wrong with the vacuum or the way some vacuume hoses were connected... What do you think? Big thanks in advance;)
