Is there an LSD for the 124's..???

Almost certainly, I'd say. If the 500E didn't have one as standard I would think it'd be on the options list. Whether you'll find one with the ratio you want is another matter...

There was a W124 420 in the US, same as there was a 420 S Class, but I don't know if the diffs are interchangeable. If so there's one answer

The 190 Cosworth probably had an LSD. There's another answer - AFAIK the 190 had the same diff as a W124

Mercman would know the nitty gritty better than me

BTW why do you want an LSD?

Thot the LSD may improve the cars ability to use the little power that it has efficiently

Unless you've got an inside rear wheel spinning power away on the exit of bends I suspect you're not going to see much advantage

They do make cars handle rather differently, though, and it's a change I quite like

They do make a car 'feel' considerably different, all you would gain from fitting a limited slip diff is the ability to 'light up' both wheels instead of just one when your foot slipped off the clutch.
I recently sold a front wheel drive car that had an lsd fitted as standard (it was the high power model of the range) & having driven a number of non lsd versions of the same model I would say that the lsd did not assist the cornering of the car one bit, it always felt like it wanted to go straight on.
As stated that was a front wheel drive car but I dont believe the situation would be any better with rear wheel drive.
Incidentally, it was rubbish in the snow / ice we had a couple of months ago, certainly didnt inspire any extra confidence

Now you're talking! You could just get a spare and weld it...

LSD a new consideration

Will it help reduce power lost moving from the point of inertia??

I first experinced one on a '73 Alfa Spider and it was a revelation - unlike Capris, etc which just spun the inside rear wheel you could get more power down AND steer from the rear.

More recently I had 7 years of driving slippy diff'd 200sx's - great fun and great handling.

I was very surprised to find that my 306 BHP C43 doesn't have one. It means at best that you can't adjust the attitude of the car and at worst it gets you stuck in slippery conditions as the electronics can't cope.

ALL powerful RWD cars should have them in my opinion.
