I have just purchased a MAF from International Parts Ltd Tel: 01268574423 my V220 is a 2002 model MAF failure is common, be sure you give them the number off the body of the MAF, mine was Bosch 0208217114, this is the most common, its replacement is new not reconditioned with 6 months warranty, I am embaressed to tell you it cost £43-99p delivered.
I would recommend as it costs £50 just for Mercedes to put it on their diagnostic machine.
Hope you have success.
If your original MB MAF is cream crackered it is worth trying to clean it. failing that, never buy a cheap (dare I say "Ebay?") job unless it's guaranteed Bosch or similar OEM replacement.
We cleaned the MAF on my son's VW Gti 150 etc etc and the results, so far, have been first class.
We removed the assembly and used a tiny eye-liner type brush to bathe the element in solvent - I think it was electrical contact cleaner. We bathed and brushed several times and we left the solvent to 'work' into the grime. After leaving it for 15 mins, we blasted it several times with the solvent aerosol and re-installed.
It worked, it's working and the car starts on the button, never misses a beat and fuel consumption is better by a significant margin.
That's our experience.
Having said that, his ICU went and, being short of funds and not able to pay Jacksons of Jersey £130 for a new one, he got one from dodgy New York bod operating from an appartment for £30 and it's also performing like a good'un.
