So I've recently purchased a very tidy 190e 2.3l i4 8v from spain so not an ounce of rust and it's my intention to turn it into a track car and the first thing on my list is to put a new motor in. I've picked up a good M104 3.2 engine thinking that I can drop it in there but then realised I should have started with a i6 car rather than an i4. Does anyone know if this is even possible and what else would I need apart from an ECU and wiring loom?

Thanks for any assistance.

No it's not.
The I6 car has a different crossmember which is bolted in. The I4 crossmember is welded.
You might be able to hack it about but frankly given the fact it's very tidy it would be a shame to molest it.
