M273 engine variations

Hello! :)
I have a 2006 CLS 500 with M273 engine which has to be replaced (it was ran with blocked oiling mechanism due to improper servicing).

I am looking for a used M273 engine but it has variations. CLS 500 is fitted with M 273 960 but for example CLK 500 has M 273 967.
Can anyone tell me what are the differences? Can a M 273 960 be replaced with M 273 967 ?
I have been looking for this info but couldn't find it anywhere...

P.S. I'm new here, sorry if it's been answered before!

In the main there is little difference re the block and head, just check that the starter is on the same side and use your own manifold etc.

Sometimes its internal differences other times its mountings or even construction of the block.

For example I am putting an engine in a 55 plate CLK220cdi 646963 engine. I was given an engine from a C220cdi which was a 646962. Same engine you would think? No. There is no water jackets for an auxillary heater and the crank sensor position is slightly different. And yet almost exactly the same car.

Be careful, MB put engine codes on them for a reason.
