Beware as you approach the north bound services (and possibly south). I've seen the situation where the speed trap is up on an approach bridge and a number of traffic cars, sat in the on-slip, picking off the unfortunates. Also seen a 4x4 unmarked police car but can't remember what.

Try to ensure you're not the fastest and beware the services bridges :)

I've seen that too and it's an ANPR trap, not speeding. I've seen them in other places around the Midlands.

There's no need to chase speeding drivers - just take a picture and send them the bill.

Up on the 74 they hide up onslips. Slow down near them, check mirrors then introduce warp drive.

My standard policy!!!

i think i would be tempted to call the police and inform them of this car if it was deliberately doing what you think it was...

cant be too careful....

I'm not sure how I'd broach that??
"Officer, I was late for a meeting (Im no heart surgeon mind so not that important) and was travelling at warp speed on the toll at which point I was tailgated and went to Warp +20 to get him off me!

Passed Droitwich on way back from second meeting, was tempted to peel off M5 and look for the illustrious SL of Malc and Gkinghorn fame!

Where is Malc by the way?

Hello Colin,

Have a look at the albums in my profile, particularly those of the 19" CLS wheels, which give it the purposeful stance.

Thanks for the compliment.

Sorry Neil H.

It really does look well on the 19" rims :D I was also considering moving to the 19's but wondered if you had to do anything particular before fitting? Spacer etc? Has it affected the ride much?

Hello Pete, they fit straight on, no spacers. The CLS ET gives the extra protrusion.

The ride is fine as I only changed from 40/35 profile to 35/30 profile and the car is running Airmatic.

I did, however, stick with the E Class tyre sizes of 245/275 (the CLS is 255/285) - no clearance/rubbing issues.

There's a guy who put some on his silver E saloon and left the bigger tyres on. He says no clearance problems also.

I'll see if I can find it and post it here later.

Unmarked cars tend to be moved around shared between different areas to throw you off the scent.

Well the same pair of unmarked BMW 5 series estates have been cruising up and down the same stretch of the M5 near me for what seems like years. One dark blue, one silver.
There's also a brand new white 5 series saloon driving around Bristol full of small change but I'm not sure if it's a traffic car...

This avoidance procedure has on occasion been found to be lacking of certainty in not being caught exceeding the speed limit.......Martin's experience could be a case in point?

Martin deeply regrets the situation he is in and encourages everyone to obey speed limits and drive according to the conditions.

Back to the original point for a mo'... Northants have some rather unorthodox unmarked cars, one being a (if they still have it) an old Vectra V6 GSi, fully chavved up with big halfords alloys, spolier, tints, decals, boom box exhaust, the works. They use it for nabbing unsuspecting 'boy racer' types. I've been pulled over by it... (hmm, wonder what that says about me ! :p) They also have a few unmarked's which, without a doubt, have front tints that are way beyond legal. Their excuse? They use them for transporting 'high profile' individuals occasionally, which they dont want visible from outside... ive got a photo of one somewhere...

Moral of the story? Suspect Everyone. :)
