made in Germany?

I read some where on this site (can't remember where ) that a MB machanic
recomended to only ever buy a car made in Germany.
Can anyone tell me what other country MB are made in and what model and year ? As i am looking to purchase my first MB C- Class 220 cdi or 270 cdi

A lot of C's are built in South Africa. Used to be only RHD models, but recently set up for LHD models as well. Don't know how many RHD's are shipped to the UK. The build plant is clearly stated on the door sticker in N/A, probably in the UK too, if your worried. (BMW also produce there). MB also build in the States (world-wide for ML I think.) May assemble in Asia and Brazil too.

Huge discussion about the pros and cons of an S/A build on the N/A forums. No one seemed to conclusively find poorer build quality.

The W203 C Class Saloon where all produced in South Africa. The S203 C Class Estate in Bremen (I know as I picked mine up).

New W/S204 C Class are all made in Germany. Not sure what is left in South Africa.

The C Class Sports Coupe are made in Brazil.

ML & G are both made in the US.

A, B, E, S, CLS, SLK, CLK are all made in Germany.

Probably forgotten some....

Depends upon what you want, there is also the C200CDi & C320CDI available. If you want economy then go for the smaller engine, if you want power go for the larger. Neither the 220 or 270 are the smoothest or quietest engines. If you want silly power and quiet go for the 320

Not all salons built in SA

Not all c203 saloons were built in South Africa my 2001 model was manufactured in Germany all you need to do is check the door pillar i think German built ones seem to be better with regard to rust issues i live 300yrds from the beach at weston on the mud and have had no rust problems so far.

good point, check vin numbers, WDC made in sth africa, WDB made in germany!!

Bremen as far as I know, together with the SL and C estate.

Not sure though....
