Hi All,
I have removed my MAF, cleaned with circuit board cleaner & replaced but to no avail!!
My symptoms are: Pull away as normal & accelerate, but after 5 mins you are restricted to No Kickdown facility, the speed of a snail & the car will not go above 3000rpm!

Before I part with my "hard earned" at the stealerships, are these the faults which point in the direction of the MAF.

I know the guy in the parts dep at Mercedes, and so get trade discount, £53.00 inc VAT for a MAF, sounds ok to me.

Thanks 'O' Knowledgeable ones......

Bruce.

It might be worth pricing it at a Bosch agent as I am sure it has been mentioned in a recent thread that these are Bosch parts? Someone really clever like TELEVISION will probably reply to this with the Bosch part number.

I think the main points on this were covered in PARROT OF DOOM's recent 'how to' article.

Hi Mouldb! Does your car perform as normal for the first 5 mins then? I have a C220 CDI and have plenty of posts re a similar problem. My symptoms were intermittent. When in fault my car would (from a fresh start) lack power and fail to kick down. Merc have now replaced the Turbo and all seems fine. If I was paying to find a fault like this, I would look at 1st the MAP, 2nd the pressure sens's (app. there are 2?) and would only have looked at the turbo when all else fails. This is only from experience, not skill.

I had the exact same symptoms with the E320cdi . At first it was only intermittent. Replacing the MAF cured it. Not worth messing with it or cleaning it, it will only prolong the agony.

I have the same symptoms. Haven't changed it yet, but the new MAS arrived today from Euro Car Parts (£51). Speedy service - only ordered it on Monday night.

Will let you know if it fixes it.

Bonnet open fault sounds likely to me. I would asume the car would not want you to travel quickly thinking the bonnet was open in case it opened more with air pressure beneath it! Would the stealers be able to shed any light on that fault? I am sure they would have come across that one before.
On the brighter side,at least you have a spare MAF for the future though:)
