Hi all

I bought a new pierburg maf sensor back in may I fitted it ran my ML for about 1000 miles then got the limp mode back again very intermittently but has become more frequent, so went back to eurocar parts this morning and they did a straight swap I drove 8 mile with the new sensor fitted then got limp mode again, surely it can't be the maf sensor so soon.

Can anyone help me with this as I have had this problem since a bought my ML back in April.

many thanks

Was there any oil residue on the MAF? is there any oil on the rubber pipes on the left side of the engine around the tirbo inlet.

Hi

No there is no oil residue on the MAF sensor and no oil on pipes around turbo.

the first sensor I took off was very clean, I changed the air filter when I fitted the new sensor.

I now I shouldn't but to prove a point should I run the car without the air filter to see if it's lack of air flow that's the problem ?

many thanks

You really need some giags run on the car, on tick over without moving wouldnt hurt but I cant see the air flow being a problem.

What about the brake pedal switch have you thought about replacing that £9 or so from MB.

The 02 sensor can put the car into the limp home mode, but normally with the light on(engine)

Hi

No lights on the dash at all.

when I got home I turned the engin off waited about 20 seconds restarted it and it reved fine, same thing with the old sensor, I have read on here that it resets the sensor when you switch off so that's why i think it's the sensor but now I am having second thoughts.

many thanks

This could be the conductor plate in the gearbox, not expensive,, get an indie to read the codes

if you put it on the fault code machine it will tell you what is wrong, common fault is a sensor but there are loads the fault code will tell you which one it is
