Hi, All

After my previous post i have un plugged the maf and my clk320 1997 ran with a great improvement.

Thinking that the MAF was a cheap replacement i have removed to have a look and it is a bosch part number D 280 217 515 112 094 00 48 / LM0021 does anyone know if this is the original part or replacement.

After removing the MAF it is in very clean condition with no dust oil or any other impurities in fact it looks brand new much like the rest of engine compartment or will the alchohol cleaner clean what naked eye cannot see.

The car is in for indie service on Tues is there anyway they can check the MAF before i fork out for a replacement or should i still buy some cleaner and clean as well.

Thanks for any comments

Johno

MAF inners

Theres a few posts on this topic, but in summary my memory serves me that you can buy just the inner piece (i.e not the whole kit inlc housing). You are by far recommended to go for the direct Bosch replacement, ring them up and quote your part no. Cant recall costs precisely but think iro £60/70.

Ebay parts are cheap ...and generally there is good reason, cos they don't work.

Resolved update

Hi All,

Firstly i would like to thank all that have helped me with my problem.

After dissconecting the MAF and finding this was the problem i decided to bite the bullet and just buy a new one, searched local automotives in Leicester and found CAS ( Central Auto Spares ) and they supplied me with a complete Bosch Replacement at £110 + Vat which at some of the prices quoted on this forum i thought it was very reasonable.

However down to results, 5 mins to fit and WOW the CLK320 is a new car What a difference, and being new to mb i now know what all the fuss is about Im hooked allready!!!

There is still a slight problem with idle whilst in drive slows to about 600 rpm but in neutral back up to 750 rpm.

Have read in other posts that it could be inj blockage and a fuel supplement cleaner could remedy this.

If this is right could someone recomend the best to add as there is some cheap sh*t out there i bet, or if someone has any other ideas please post.

Thanks again all,

Johno

Whatever you do mate, do not add any supplement. Mercedes Benz don't recommend it and it might cause more harm than good.

Let a good indie look at it.

Good luck!

Petrol Fuel Injection Cleaner Experience

Johno

I have been using Wynns Petrol Injector Cleaner every 6,000 miles for the last 150,000 miles with absolutely no adverse effects. The car runs almost exclusively on ASDA fuel and feels smoother and more responsive after each treatment. It has also kept the fuel gauge sender units clean and sorted out the erratic behaviour reported by many W208 and W202 owners.
