Magic trailer lights

I don’t quite believe this but I have repeated it to be sure I wasn’t dreaming. I have a 2000 320 cdi w210 estate which I bought at Christmas. I have just connected my trailer lighting board for the first time to the drop-down socket and without me doing anything the lighting board has cycled through all of the lights, right indicator, left indicator, rear lights, stop lights. I can find nothing online about such software fitted to a car... anyone heard of this?
