I like the charitable suggestion of giving the £500 to the Haiti relief fund.

But then again; the more I think about it, the more I feel it would actually do more good to the world if the mechanic concerned gets fired or a real bollocking so the incident is drilled into his mind never to do such crazy speed inner city again.

If he gets away with this relatively unscathed and all the boys just think he is "jack the lad" who always comes up golden, just think what kind of a message it sends to his fellow mechanics and friends hes gonna brag to down the pub.

In the long term, a tough lesson on this psycho would probably saved at least one family from the heartache of serious disability or death from an accident.

That is, if the OP really don't care about the money and wants to do some good out of a bad incident...
