Please please please I have heard that there is a W210 rear suspension arm the replaces the corresponding one on the W124. I have also been told that I can change this pair without changinh the others.

I am desparate Malcolm, K286th, Myros the back bones of this forum where are you.

That is correct . Some of the 124 rear suspension links have now been rationalised and uses the 210 part numbers which were stronger. Cannot remember which ones without looking it up in my history file.

Make sure you get all the bits to do with the arms as they will look different when you take the old ones off. Give your VIN to the Merc parts person and do not buy the parts from anyone except Mercedes as you might not get the latest parts and they will not know about the upgrades.

I guess you are replacing one arm on each side.

If so it is straightforward, well apart from tight access and the need for some tool bits you may need.

If you were replacing more than one arm (and for the other members info) you should do one arm at a time and not have two off at the same time for example.

Also the weight of the car should be on the wheels, or the jacking up of the suspension should be done before you tighten the nuts. It will ensure the rubber is not twisted too much in it's natural operating state.

Have you been told which arms you need to replace. I ask because it's the PUSHING and PULLING links which usually go first. (THRUST and TORQUE arms in Mercedes parlance).
