Hi all,

Firstly, not sure I posted this in the right forum so mods please feel free to move it.

I am looking for contact details for any English speaking motor trade related business in or near Marbella, especially independent workshops.
Currently I am based in Ireland specialising in diagnostics for Mercedes, BMW and VW/Audi but I will shortly be relocating to Spain.

Thanks

From our experience here (Murcia), despite numerous 'fliers' from 'English' mechanics, obtaining a contact number that is not 'unavailable' or simply 'rings out', would be a damn miracle

As my old Grandmother used to say, as she bounced me up and down on her knee, "Things happen for a reason" - the net result, is that we have contacted the Main Dealers (Land Rover and Mercedes) and have been pleasantly surprised at how low (compared to the UK) their prices have been. Excellent Customer Service too :D.

Thanks Gran.!

Good Luck with your venture - and welcome to Spain.!

Murcia area is our regular location in Spain, Los Alcazares in particular.

Funny that, I had the same experience. I emailed an English mechanic who seemed keen to meet (his idea) but while I was over there he never answered his phone.
Talking to a few people in Benalmadena recently there seems to be a distinct lack of English speaking mechanics.

Thanks for your kind wishes.

We are about 20mins from Alcazares - La Torre.

It's a heck of a way from Marbella :(

When are you intending to abandon the UK?

I don’t know La Torre. It must be inland?

Yep, Marbella is about 4 hours. Even though we know the Murcia region well, business suits me better further south. Final decision between the two will happen very soon. I am going to do a trip over in the next few days, depending on flights.

We are Irish, so we are abandoning Ireland, approx 8 weeks we hope.

Yes, La Torre is inland.

All the VERY best to you - Alcazares has plenty of very good restarants/bars.

Good luck in Marbella. Have friends and family in the region. Word of warning, unlike the UK (and Ireland I imagine) government and local documentation is in two languages only. Spanish and more Spanish. (And don't get me started on the Andaluz accent!!).

Good luck on la carretera de la muerte ;-)

what are you doing with your equipment? how did you find trade working in ireland, considering getting into mobile diagnostics in munster area!

I have some equipment to dispose of.

As regards how I found trade. Well, my mother used to say that self praise is no praise, but to be honest about it, if you are good at diagnostics you will always be busy. I was always busy :)

If you need any advice get in touch.

I think that the best feeling is got from doing repairs on jobs where others have failed, though there are limitations on what I will take on after others have tried

I agree Malcom. Another aspect to this is that very few are prepared to put in the required effort to reach a good level of ability. Its almost a vocation :)
