Sadly there aren't many beautifully designed cars around. Maybe it's happened because manufacturers are trying to squeeze fuel economy to the limit then trying ( and usually dismally failing) to add a few interesting quirks to the slippery designs.
Add to that the propensity for SUV type cars and cars getting larger and those who appreciate beauty in design are in for a torrid time.

...some of the Far East offerings offend my eyes to the extreme!

Good comparison.
I have a gen 3 A3 Sportback currently. Audi is no longer bring the Sportback to Canada and BMW isn't bringing the 1 series here either. After test driving what's available here the closest competition was the Mazda 3 GT.
