the problem is that the engine shuts down as the car is on the move and if that happens i cant start it again (sometimes for hours) i have replaced the fuel pump - still the same and cleaned up the fuel pump relay. when i try to start the engine i cant hear the fuel pump if it starts to make noises (fuel pump) than the engine will start and the problem is solved for next few hours of driving. please help i tried almost everything even with MB service - nothing

have you checked the electric connections to the fuel pump itself ? could be a loose/cracked wire

just to clarify when it cuts out and you try to restart you cant hear the pump prime .if thats correct then im sure its the fuel pump relay if you remove it when cuts out get apiece if wire about 2 inches long and bare each end make a loop and then put one end in the pin hole marked 30 and the other in the one marked 87 the pump will then run permanently if the car then restarts then your relay is goosed.try this and let us know.
i should have a relay if this is the problem

If it is not the above relay I would go for the crankshaft sensor

Thank you all - i'll try out the suggestion with wire instead of relay and see what happens - of course i'll post a message with the results but... now i have another problem after so many retries to start the engine my key now wont turn in starter. Damn you 190e :))))
thank you once again

I reckon the original cutting out problem is due to the key barrel and the ignition switch.

I reckon the original cutting out problem is due to the key barrel and the ignition switch.

This is also a reason, with a volt meter and a few test you could eliminate so many components, and it will make the job so much more simple

there is a thread running somewhere on here i think but ignition barrell failure very common im afraid on our mb,s

Many people in the USA take them to pieces and adjust the contacts with good results. So many inductive devices coming of the ign switch is what burns the contacts, if caps had been wired over the contacts this would not happen

actually i'm afraid that i cant work with volt meter. to be honest i'm understand nothing of engines at all (i hate this peace of machinery) but no one want to solve (or cant) my problem - so i must do it by myself. so i rely of you guys - and if that goes through learning how to work with volt meter - so be it.

A little digital voltmeter costing £3-£10 would help a lot, I can tell you what to do with it

i opened the fuel relay and it turns out that one of the weld was cracked, so i make it again and hope that will solve the problem once and for all.
