No. Mercedes has announced that it will have a carbon- neutral fleet by 2039. It has also said that it will target to make EV and PHEV vehicles >50% of car sales by 2030.

That doesn’t mean it’s cars will be all electric; it targets assembly plant energy efficiency as well as vehicle emissions.

The last model lineup I saw had PHEV/ range extended as well as hybrid vehicles. The main difference here is that a range extender has an electric motor or motors as its sole source of motive force; a hybrid can use a starter-generator clutched into a transmission with an internal combustion engine. Nothing stopping that being a 4.0 litre supercharged V8.

So where would that leave Tesla? Will they just end up being a luxury EV brand and in competition with the incumbents?

Or will they end up like Fisker but at greater scale?

Agreed. What I meant by Fisker was go bust but with more calamity and profile. :)

Even though those corpses are vegetables in the grand scheme of things. They eat grass, convert it to milk, meat, gas, leather, glue during their lifecycle, deposit nutrients back into the ground that grows the grass that they eat.. repeat cycle.:D

Cows burping is the main problem - they deliver more methane out of that end than the other.
