MB Approved Used warranty question

I bought my 53 plate C279CDI in January from MB Tonbridge and it came with the MB Approved Used Warranty. Reading the warranty handbook I find it a bit confusing as to where I can get my next service done. Does anybody know if it have to be serviced at a main dealer or can I use a good independent, as long as they use MB parts and stick to the service schedule.

Any thoughts and comments appreciated

You are free to go where you choose and as you say serviced in accordance to MB and MB parts and your Warranty stays intact

the one thing to be careful about, is the 30 year corrosion warranty.
as this is an 'add on' you will find it requires a full MB history to be valid, if you dont mind losing it, carry on and use a decent indie, if it is important to you, stick with a dealer!

On cars more than three years old most dealers are offering substantial discounts. And you can take in your own oil which saves quite a lot if you buy discounted Mobil 1 or whatever is recommended for your model.

The A service is only about 1 hours labour and that costs less than the cost of full AA membership for me and my wife (£150) and the AA want another £100 for Euro cover which you also get free if you keep fullMBSH. It is all part of MobiloLife -well worth having IMO.

hawk has a good point..... if your local dealer doesnt do cheap servicing for the older cars, may i recommend you write a letter to the dealer principle?
dont bother with the service managers, as they on the whole have no say on labour rates, if enough people complain at high labour rates, im sure they will be reviewed!

After how long is it before the cheaper rates come in 3 years, 6 years

Threads I've seen suggest after they reach three years old.

Growing evidence of workshops becoming less busy as the cars are getting more reliable and dealers are being more flexible.

I received a circular from my local dealer offering discounts on age but it was none to clear,, I will take it up with them

Many thanks for the replies. My thoughts are that as it is my first service on the car (and it is an A service) it will go to a main dealer as I am curious about their customer service levels ( :twisted:
