Mb discs compared to brembo

Anyone know what the ridges are for on genuine discs . I'd guess a cooling option , but unsure. Brembo ones I bought are just bog standard . ??

Looks like a 2-part disc and the ridges provide the "drive" between the 2 halves

Looks like a pressed steel centre crimped into the cast iron disc.

Same set up on some of the e classes . Fronts are huge . Biggest calipers and pads I've ever seen.
