I somehow do not think that a "Professional" break down engineer would connect jump leads the wrong way round, he does it how many times per day?

But they did and this was the start of it all, it was not a mercedes recovery truck.

Err no. The recovery people sent two reports to Mondial and gave evidence at the trial that my car had been driven into MB's car park, therefore, the damage could not have possibly been caused by the recovery company.

MB 'assistance' were the ones who told me that because I had left my factory filled mobile in its factory fitted cradle whith the ignition switched off it had caused the battery to 'go flat'. This was even though it had a massive battery.

It was then that I knew that MB errr xxxxxxx

As a 'sideline' in the seventies, before radios became standard I used to fit radios into cars to earn extra money. Those wonderful Motorola five push button units and sadly missed 8 track units..

Those were the days of positive earth!! Ugggg!

Yes, although it was cheaper than having a wife:)

I suppose you could look upon it as a pastime over the last few years - you could have spend much more on things like photograhy, or even serious road cycling. :)

Amongst the most bizarre things to me is the dealer initially presenting a bill for £6500 as if you'd cheerfully just pay it, when the work wasn't authorised and the car was still in warranty.

Yes. That is it in a nutshell.

Malclom have another look

It seems that the 3rd party contracted by MB therefore representing MB sent in writing that they did not jump the car. Not that it make 1 iota of difference, twice I have been jumped by MOBILO in the MOBILO R series special wagons.

Also mentioned is the blue tooth device, it is NOT ignition powered it is permanently live, hence one of the above jumps from MOBILO.

Whenever I drove my car after it had been left for a couple of days the mobile 'phone showed 'low battery and charging'. If the unit had been permanently 'live' it would not have needed charging; surely?

Or was there another feature that was 'live' and I never used it?

It turned out to be a 'leaking' electrical unit under the front passenger seat, evidently.

And that ECU is well documented for leaking, its the seat controller, and the memory leaks.

Well done Robert,a man after my own heart,a man with principles and standards,
sadly less of us around these days. The treatment you have received from MB is all too common, and ranges across many large companies as "we" are the little man at the end of a phone,or email and are often looked down upon.I have had a similar treatment with an insurance company and came through victorious, but it is daunting, documentation and detail are the key as is a cool head as you have found out Im sure.I run my own business and customer service and satisfaction is paramount,a quality that many large companies fail to instill into their staff for a number of reasons.I bet you're sleeping better now;)

I took great pleasure in kicking MB's backside in Court far more than any other action I have been involved in, why ?
Simple, they lied repeatedly and made some patronising comments I didn't take too, relative no marks in the company indulged in nauseating sycophancy why I have no idea.

That's exactly the reason why he could quite easily connect the wrong way..... complacency sets in and that's where mistakes happen (speaking from my own experience/mistakes!!)

According to the evidence given under Oath;

The recovery company use a 'Maga Boost' unit which has reverse polarity protection and 'surge' protection.

MB; 'we do not jump start cars' and 'we do not take the risk'

When I was young and worked on a used car lot, compete with sheepskin jacket, a Glass's Guide and the need to start all the cars, every day, we had the use of a battery booster and a long, strong, insulated screwdriver

Why did I have the screwdriver?

To flash it across the battery terminals to see if it sparked :D
