Two years ago my 2 genuine MB windscreen wiper blades cost £58 from local dealer. Now, the same part no from same dealer cost £33 ?

Perhaps MB have realised at long last how much money can be made from selling parts - I always buy genuine and so do a lot of others on here so good news indeed. My mantra buy genuine - it fits and quality guaranteed

Wipers obviously aren’t the best example but I still buy MB. I think one of the best examples are oil filters how can anyone possible guarantee that the filtration element is as good as buying MB, some will say it’s still made by Mann and the same material but there is no certainty

Knowing Tier 1 suppliers well they will make 1 filter that many OEM's use and just put it in a different box, manufacturing costs need to be kept as low as possible. MB don't specify the filter, they buy one off the shelf that will do the job and the manufacturer sticks a MB logo on it

I have a MANN Frecious cabin filter in my car and it is far superior to the OEM MB part

I take your point but there are so many inferior products and fakes out there nowadays I’m sure most filters don’t come up to MB spec.
I’m afraid I’d have to see production and boxing to be convinced why bother if you’re changing the oil yourself. I have the same approach as most Independents and only fit MB parts for them it cuts through all the aftermarket chaos and pitfalls

Mercedes Benz make cars, not wiper blades!!
Components like that are a 'bought-in' parts from several different manufactures!!
Exactly the same as other car brands!

Given the number of fake parts on the market, I am much more concerned about supply chain and ensuring I don’t use substandard counterfeit parts. I avoid this in the main by using genuine MB parts, which I “hope” reduces the risk?

Supply chains in the brands is very tight eg MB. I think
apple have the best.
