Helen, to get a finish as such it involves re-leveling the clear coat so all swirl marks, etching and scratches are removed which is done by machine polishing.

Care has to be takn that there is enough clear coat othewrwise some defects have to remain behind. Clear coat thickness is determined by using a paint thickness gauge that measures the individual layers (primer, base colour and clear coat)

prefer to do my own, :D only myself to please:D

I agree and my car has no swirl marks to start with, and I clean all of the door shuts and every where

I take it the swirl marks are from a car wash :shock:

How could anyone stick an SL55 AMG in a ****** car wash??

I would wrap it in cotton wool every night. Come to think of it, I would probably sleep in it too :lol:

Many folk that buy them have so much money it does not matter,,footballers for instance,,they would not know or care
