I have a couple here maybe i can send them on? MB charge over £100 plus vat for the stupid little box!!!!
The earlier ones usually blew the fused links inside. They could be repaired. would be interesting to see if the later ones can

I am always happy to try :D:D

The glow plug module on the 642 is potted sadly, so very difficult to repair!

However, it is relatively easy to change as a DIY job.

So id need to buy a new glow plug relay box then correct? Im sure mine is the 642 being V6?

What does potted mean?

Television, Im happy to send you my Relay box to see if you can fix it? Im assuming the car will still run without the glow plug relay? If not Ill have to buy a new one and send you the old one for you to play with?:)

Potted = filled with resin of some sort. Given the new one is about £130 from MB and it takes 10 mins to fit (provided you have the (E8?) socket to undo the 2 bolts on the bracket and 2 holding the part in. Must be about the most accessible component on the whole engine.

Note that the new part is smaller than the old part, but fits in the same way, so don't worry when you open the box and wonder if you have the right part.

If I had spare time (I don't) I'd enjoy spending a few hours cutting open the old one and trying to fix it - always a satisfying feeling, even if currently not a sensible use of my available time.

And you don't need Star to reset the fault code: ODBII will do, but why bother, since no warning lights will be on?

Guys here is a picture of the job MB Specialists Bridgend(Thats a Laugh) did replacing the Turbo Seal, Its worse than it was before now they have cracked all the pipework, and they couldn't even be bothered to clean the old thick dried oil around the pipe and turbo after installing the new turbo seal!!

And dont forget they handed the car back to me like this saying "All done" Hoping I wouldn't check Id imagine or that I would be completely clueless.

I wonder how many other innocent people they have done botch jobs for?

I actually spoke to one of My cleaners in work Whos husband used them and was very upset, apparently they are renowned for bad work!! That will teach me to do my research/homework in the future!
