mb190E wont start

Hi guys, thanks for all the answers over the last few months. I however have one more problem, after laying untouched for about 3 weeks, my petrol mb 1989 190e wont start.She turns over very well, healthy battery, checked leads, distributor, rotor arm etc, there is petrol gettin to the carb. It wont even go on a push start, ive read in some threads about OVPR, cud it be this and wer wud i find it? any help would be great, thanks. Noel

You say there is petrol getting to the carb but also say the car is a 190E

Is it injection or not

oops sorry, newbie error lol, i lifted off the air filter housing, and got a wiff of petrol from under that butterfly flap, anyway a passing mechanic stoped and had a look, he towed it up and down and it just wouldnt catch,he checked for a spark, none, and informed me i need a new coil.

If he checked for the spark at the plug end, then your coil may still be ok, as the spark from the coil may not be getting distributed. So check for the spark out from the coil if you know how to do it.

Sorry bout delay, i got a coil, thought that was what it wud ave been, was 80euro!, i wouldnt be to competent at checking spark from coil, on my own too, so wud b difficult, i will fit the coil tomorrow and let you know, as for the fuel pump buzz, when i turn on the ignition i used to hear the vacum pump under the rear seat hum, that has died away too, no other sound heard. Also i turns out that although i have a 190e as per log book, the engine was obviously replaced, as its a 190, wud answer the earlier thread confusion, tanx for the advice so far

Learned a lesson today, fitted the coil, still no spark, did i check the ht lead fully earlier? nope, on closer inspection i pealed back the rubber cover and the connection end, the wire had frayed and broken away, new lead sorted problem. Cheers all

I did answer on your thread that this switching could not have caused the fault

if the car just cut this could be many things, if you have no spark then the crankshaft sensor could be the reason
