MERCEDES C220 CLASSIC DIESEL 1996 ALARM/IMMOBLISER PROBLEM

When working fine, upon activation the alarm bleeps once, the exterior lights flash once (for about one sec) and the redlight on interior mirror and drivers door handle flash . Upon deactivation, the alarm bleeps twice in harmony with the exterior lights flashing twice, the red lights turn to green. THe central locking system works upon activation/deactivation

However, I cannot "deactivate" the alarm. When i try to deactivate, the doors open via central locking, the green light on interior mirror continously flashes. THere is no beeping twice of sound and most annoyingly the CAR WONT START. IT cranks but it wont start due to the immobliser still being "on". There is no sounding of the alarm unit when this happens.

THe battery has been disconnected ( which triggers off the alarm sounder)and reconnected but this does not help. I am stuck with the car as it wont start. I have tried many times with both my key fobs to open and close the car but still no luck Any ideas?

Make sure you wait for the green light to glow steady before opening the door. If you open the door too early the immobiliser resets as an anti-hyjacking measure.
If the light never glows green then the alarm is probably faulty.

Hi

As far as I am aware the alarm will only diactivate using the remotes & not through the central locking.

If the lights do not flash either red or green when the remote is pressed. There may be a problem with the remote. Check by watching the led light and it shuld flash once when you press the button. If not then the remote or batteries are faulty. If the lights flash green & red at the same time alternately then there may be a fault with the batteries.

Donot think just cause it operates the central locking that the remote batteries are ok.If it flashes green and red then change the batteries.

Hope this helps.

Regards
