MBSS alarm playing up

Hi,

After some advise/help on MBSS Alarm problem.

Has anyone seen or know of problems with the MBSS on a C class(96), intermittently failing to arm ? When she fails to arm, the car locks(no beep), But then I'm unable to start the car until I can arm/disarm her...

Batteries in both keys have been changed and the red light in both transmitters comes on for the battery test.

I have an E class same year, similar alarm problems

If you hold the button on the fob for a few seconds more the alarm works the way it should.

sometimes though it doesnt. the air/vacuum pump has been replaced but it still sometimes fails to open the doors / activate the immobilised circuit.

its a pain and i would like to replace the whole alarm with an aftermarket one.

anyone done this?

Thanks for the reply Nello, root cause has now been found
Cheap Samsung batteries in the transmitters ops.
So although the battery tests were okay, quick test with the multimeter found the problem ...Good set of Duracell batteries sorted it

Well done, but in general, these alarm systems were not great. its easy to put an aftermarket one on. Just that you will have the big main key and the new alarm fob aswell...Just a little annoying!
Decent alarms cost around £200 to do the whole job...
